Katharina Grosse
O.T., 2023
The edition created by Katharina Grosse in correspondence with her work Canyon (2022) consists of unique pieces produced in series at the Kunstgießerei St. Gallen art foundry and in the artist’s studio. The individual works are based on five different basic forms, which were shaped into a variety of spatial structures using a steel roller. Grosse then processed these structures using spray technology. Light and shadow serve as impressive enhancers of the objects’ appearance.
Katharina Grosse (born 1961 in Freiburg im Breisgau) is one of the most important contemporary artists. Through her creative process, she has succeeded in pushing the boundaries of the medium and redefining traditional notions of painting. Her work captivates with the power and intensity of colour.
She uses experimentally, striking a harmonious balance between chance and control. The artist, who lives in Berlin and New Zealand, transcends the boundaries of classical image carriers in her oeuvre. Her installation works extend across entire architectural spaces, everyday objects, and sculptural structures. Katharina Grosse
has received numerous international art awards. Her work can be found in renowned museums and collections worldwide.
