Michael Wesely
Michael Wesely x Flowtys - Stillleben 2.0
Michael Wesely is a celebrated master of extreme long exposures, in which he documents the change of objects over time. Among his best-known series of works are his bouquet still lifes. Together with Flowtys, an artist collective known as a trendsetter in the crypto scene, he has created the first photo art-based NFT art edition that ages on the blockchain. Through a so-called smart contract, the artwork stored on the blockchain changes over time, enabling the digital artwork to age visually. Depending on the artwork, this happens at different speeds. The flower still lifes age evenly, and the process starts over and over again. Thus, the artwork is essentially different for the viewer every time they look at it. Ownership rights to these digital collectibles are acquired via the NFT. Michael Wesely has created a corresponding physical edition to accompany the joint NFT edition with Flowtys. There is a triptych and a characteristic single motif for each of the nine bouquets. The edition is limited to three copies each.
‘The collaboration with Flowtys on this joint NFT artwork finally gives me the opportunity to artistically encapsulate my central body of work, the flower bouquets,’ says Wesely.
